Kian Lerch-Mackinnon Biography

Kian has been in love with a machine they call a bicycle since he was two years old and feels that it is his destiny to ride one for the rest of his life.

As a young child, Kian shifted house quite a number of times with his family and they slowly moved further and further away from Melbourne. Kian has been living in the country for the majority of his life, which is where he loves to be the most. Kian’s first competitive riding experience was when he started racing BMX in 2009. He stumbled across mountain biking through a friend in 2012 and the rest is history. After buying a bike with gears and suspension, Kian rode both BMX and the mountain bike for a period of six months before deciding to get more serious about the hills and rocks. He ended up selling his brand new BMX and decided to focus solely on mountain biking.

Kian is now a determined 17 year old, who has raced four cross-country mountain bike National seasons, including an Oceania race. He is ready to live his dream by tackling his first World Championships in Europe in July 2016. In Kian’s spare time, he enjoys drawing, cooking and listening to music.

Kian's achievements:

  1. Number 1 UCI ranked Junior (U19) Male athlete in the world
  2. Current 2016 OCEANIA MTB XCO Junior Champion
